Dianne Abbott email

Dear Ms Thorpe-Tracey,

Thank you for your kind words. The support and advice I have received has been incredible.

The Conservative Party ran a campaign characterised by the politics of personal destruction. They completely underestimated the British public’s ability to see past this. We must never feed the misogynist online culture that intends to silence the voice of strong women and ethnic minorities in public life.

Labour fought a positive campaign addressing the issues that matter the most to people, and we have been vindicated.

30 years ago, this week, I became an MP to be the change I wanted to see. Despite personal attacks and online abuse, I will continue.

I hope I can count on your personal support and your support for the Labour party as we continue to fight for a Government that represents the many and not the few.

Thanks again.

Yours sincerely,

Rt Hon Diane Abbott MP
Labour Member of Parliament for Hackney North and Stoke Newington

I stayed up till 4am last night, watching the results come in. My highlights from the UK General Election:
1. We’ve kept our beloved Green MP Caroline Lucas in Brighton and in Parliament.
2. Kemp Town is now LABOUR! and Hove too.
3. More 18-25 year olds voted – 72% of the population
4. Highest number of women MPs elected this year: over 200! plus loads of black and Asian women were elected as MPs.
5. Jeremy Corbyn got more votes than Blair in 2001 & 2005, more than Brown in 2010, more than Miliband in 2015
6. Diane Abbot increased her majority by over 11,000, her largest yet in 30 years. 44000 people voted for her.
7. Hastings was so close; there’s always next time….
8. Literally a man with a buckethead stood against the Prime Minister – GO BRITAIN.

The SheSays Brighton event I organised and curated in March for International Women’s Day was very special, here are the videos!
